How bad do you want to succeed?

Most of you say you wanna be successful but you don’t want it bad, you just kind of want it. When all you wanna do is be is successful as bad as you wanna breathe, then you will be successful. - Eric Thomas

Never Give Up

"The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It is a very mean and nasty place and it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain't how hard you hit; it's about how hard you can get hit, and keep moving forward. How much you can take, and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done. Now, if you know what you're worth, then go out and get what you're worth. But you gotta be willing to take the hit, and not pointing fingers saying you ain't where you are because of him, or her, or anybody. Cowards do that and that ain't you. You're better than that!"

 - Rocky Balboa

This made me feel proud about myself. In spite of all the blows life gives me, I'm still here standing and fighting. They say I'm hard-headed just because I fight for and go after my own goals and dreams. I may not succeed every single time but I believe that true failure only comes when you stop trying.

Imagine what could have happened if Thomas Alva Edison gave up after failing thousands of times. Like what he said: "I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work. Our greatest weakness lies in giving up. The most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time."

Never give up. Go after what you want in life. Don't settle for less. Don't sell yourself short. Believe in yourself.

You are the only person responsible for your own life. Do not depend on and blame other people for what happens in your life.

Wish You Were Here

I can be tough, I can be strong
But with you, It's not like that at all

There’s a girl who gives a shit

Behind this wall, you just walk through it

And I remember all those crazy things you said
You left them running through my head
You're always there, you're everywhere
But right now I wish you were here

All those crazy things we did
Didn't think about it just went with it
You're always there, you're everywhere
But right now I wish you were here

Damn

What I'd do to have you here
I wish you were here
Damn
What I'd do to have you near
I wish you were here

I love the way you are
It's who I am don't have to try hard
We always say, say like it is
And the truth is that I really miss
All those crazy things you said
You left them running through my head
You're always there, you're everywhere
But right now I wish you were here

All those crazy things we did
Didn't think about it just went with it
You're always there, you're everywhere
But right now I wish you were here

No, I don't wanna let go, I just wanna let you know
That I never wanna let go

Dapat Laging May Bago

New Book

After I had lunch, I decided to go to Powerbooks to kill some time since my appointment is scheduled at 1pm and it's only 12:20pm. I went around the bookstore looking for something interesting to buy. I came across the aisle dedicated to Philippine literature. I remembered one of the books in my list of future reads - Para Kay B. I tried to look for the book but I can't remember who the author is. All I remember is he is a well known showbiz writer and his first name starts with the letter 'R' (I later learned that the author's name is Ricky Lee, silly me). These info are of no help since the books are arranged by the authors' name. Last name that is. I'm not one who easily gives up so I continued my search and at last I found it. I picked it up as soon as I found it. But while I was happy to find it, I noticed that the book looks a little worn out already so I asked the first store clerk that I have laid eyes on if he could give me a new copy. He said that it is their last copy to my dismay. He suggested that I check out National Bookstore and see if they have the book. I went out of Powerbooks and took a quick stop at Bread Talk to buy some food and Sola iced tea in case I get hungry during my appointment. After that I headed to National Bookstore. It only took me a minute to find the book. I paid for it and went straight to Azta Urban Salon.

New Hairdo

I went to Azta Urban Salon at Alabang Town Center yesterday to get a digital perm for the first time. I've always had a straight hair - thanks to rebonding. The process took four hours to finish just like in rebonding. A cute and nice guy, I mean, gay and his female assistant did my hair. I wasn't able to eat the food I bought from Bread Talk since I didn't feel hungry which is surprising. I usually get hungry every four hours. I tried to read my newly bought book while waiting for the whole process to finish. The hairdresser said that I should not comb my curls, not even with my fingers. I don't really believe in giving tips but he's nice so I handed the hairdresser a crisp 1oo-peso bill.

Learned New Things

The book I bought, Para Kay B, is made up of short stories about love so I'm not really expecting to learn new facts. But guess what? I learned that a pig's orgasm lasts for 3o minutes. Whoa! 30 freaking minutes? I'm not sure if I should be envious or not. It's a good thing pigs don't lose their minds. I wonder what if humans have orgasms that long. Hmm.. . I also learned that lions mate for more than 50 times a day. Wth?! I thought humans are the horniest member of the animal kingdom. I guess I was wrong.

Since the book is written in Filipino, I was yet reminded again of my weakness. I'm not really good in Filipino. While I was reading the book, I came across some words that I don't even know the meanings of. I also had difficulty reading some words. Well this is exactly the reason why I am not fond of reading Philippine literature and I don't like reading aloud in Filipino. It's quite embarrassing since I am a Filipino raised in the Philippines. Good thing I don't have problems speaking in Tagalog.

MicroBlog Series #1

How do you get over someone who you know is perfect for you?

Prologue to the MicroBlog Series

I'm starting a new blog series and I'll be calling it MicroBlog. "Micro" because the series will be composed of really short blog entries which can be random thoughts and ramblings that I don't want to elaborate on. =) I was thinking whether to post them here or to tweet them instead. Obviously, the former idea won since I don't think I need a twitter account. So enough of the introduction. Here's the first of the series (see next entry).

I'm back with the Kardashians!

Heyya! It’s been a long time since I last posted an entry here. I’ve been really busy that’s why. I’m still busy at the moment but I’m back! I’ve missed a lot of “blog moments” – those times when I’m really itching to blog about something. I’m really encouraged to continue blogging after I read all the positive comments that people said about my blog. So here’s my first entry for 2011...

Since Gossip Girl is on a break right now and I’ve been seeing some episodes of Keeping Up with the Kardashians on E! channel (Ch57 on Sky Cable), I decided to try watching the series from the very beginning. As of the moment, I’m done watching seasons 1 and 2 and the first three episodes of the third season. So far, I’m enjoying watching it and I think you could actually learn a thing or two when you watch the series (seriously). I’ve watched as the Kardashians resolve their personal and family issues and I could say that they are a tight-knit family. I envy them for that. I wish I have a family like theirs where everyone love and support each other. I’m not saying that their family is perfect. They also have their flaws but they make up for it.

Painted On My Heart

I thought you'd be out of my mind

And I'd finally found a way to

Learn to live without you

I thought it was just a matter of time

Till I had a hundred reasons

Not to think about you

But it's just not so

And after all this time

I still can't let go

I've still got your face

Painted on my heart

Scrawled upon my soul

Etched upon my memory baby

I've got your kiss

Still burning on my lips

The touch of your fingertips

This love so deep inside of me

I was trying everything that I can

To get my heart to forget you

But it just can't seem to

I guess it's just no use

In every part of me

Is still a part of you

I've still got your face

Painted on my heart

Scrawled upon my soul

Etched upon my memory baby

I've got your kiss

Still burning on my lips

The touch of your fingertips

This love so deep inside of me

I've still got your face

Painted on my heart

Painted on my heart

Painted on my heart

Something in your eyes keeps haunting me

I'm trying to escape you

And I know there ain't no way to

To chase you from my mind

I've still got your face

Painted on my heart

Scrawled upon my soul

Etched upon my memory baby

I've got your kiss

Still burning on my lips

The touch of your fingertips

This love so deep inside of me

I've still got your face

I've still got your face

Painted on my heart

Painted on my heart

Painted on my heart

This song encapsulates it all.

You Just Can't Buy Happiness

“As you grow, you learn more. If you stayed at twenty-two, you’d always be as ignorant as you were at twenty-two. Aging is not just decay, you know. It’s growth. It’s more than the negative that you’re going to die, it’s also the positive that you understand you’re going to die, and that you live a better life because of it.”

Yes, I said, but if aging were so valuable, why do people always say, “Oh, if I were young again.” You never hear people say, “I wish I were sixty-five.”

He smiled. “You know what that reflects? Unsatisfied lives. Unfulfilled lives. Lives that haven’t found meaning. Because if you’ve found meaning in your life, you don’t want to go back. You want to go forward. You want to see more, do more. You can’t wait until sixty-five.”

“…Wherever I went in my life, I met people wanting to gobble up something new. Gobble up a new car. Gobble up a new piece of property. Gobble up the latest toy. And then they wanted to tell you about it. ‘Guess what I got? Guess what I got?’

You know how I always interpreted that? These were people so hungry for love that they were accepting substitutes. They were embracing material things and expecting a sort of hug back. But it never works. You can’t substitute material things for love or for gentleness or for tenderness or for sense of comradeship.”

(Excerpts from Tuesdays With Morrie)

I realized that the reason that I don’t ever feel contented whenever I get something I want like for example a new laptop is probably because I’m unconsciously using these material things as substitute for the more essential and intangible things like love and affection. There are times when I really want something so bad and when I finally get it I don’t even feel very happy about it. It’s just like, “Okay, I got it now. So what?” It doesn’t fill me up. Maybe because deep inside it’s not what I need to feel happy and contented. I’m trying to satisfy myself with material things because it’s all I can get. I’m trying to convince myself that having these stuff will make me happy. I grew up believing that. They made me like this. I’m constantly looking for what was denied from me growing up – love and affection. I wasn’t raised in a loving environment. I have parents that believe that giving their children shelter, food, clothing, education and some other material things already makes them good parents. I’m not saying that providing these things is bad but parenting is way more than that. It’s being more than just a provider. You might question what I know about parenting when I’m not even a parent – at least not yet. I know what good parents should be like because I know what I want and what I need as a daughter.

Is today The Day?

“Everyone knows they’re going to die but nobody believes it. If we did, we would do things differently.”

“..To know you’re going to die, and to be prepared for it at any time.”

“Once you learn how to die, you learn how to live.”

“We really don’t experience the world fully, because we’re half-asleep, doing things we automatically think we have to do.

And facing death changes all that?

Oh, yes. You strip away all that stuff and you focus on the essentials. When you realize you are going to die, you see everything much differently”

“If you accept that you can die at any time, then you might not be as ambitious as you are.”

“We are too involved in materialistic things, and they don’t satisfy us. The loving relationships that we have, the universe around us, we take these things for granted.”

(Excerpts from Tuesdays With Morrie)

We are so busy caught up with the everyday mundane stuffs that we forget and take for granted what’s really important. I remember a pastor saying that we should live like we’re going to die [soon]. But what do we do? We live as if we’re immortals. We live as if we know when exactly we are going to die. If you knew that you were going to die tomorrow, how could you have spent the day? You’d probably do things differently. You’d probably do the things that you don’t usually do or the things that you usually put aside and the right time for everything becomes now. You would probably appreciate everything more and draw joy from the smallest things. We could have better relationships and more satisfying lives if we always remember that we could die in a snap at any time, any place. Not everyone gets the chance to foresee when they are going to die like those sick people with numbered days.

500 Days of Summer

Tom: Paul, seriously...
Paul: Did you bang her?
Tom: No!
Paul: Blow job?
Tom: No!
Paul: Hand job?
Tom: No, Paul, no jobs. I'm still unemployed. We just kissed.

Paul: Robin is better than the girl of my dreams. She's real.

Everything I Own

You taught me how to love
What it's all, what it's all.
You never said too much
But still you showed the way
And I knew from watching you.
Nobody else could ever know
The part of me that can't let go.

I would give everything I own
Give up my life, my heart, my home
I would give everything I own
Just to have you back again
Just to touch you once again

The Real Me (daw)

Your view on yourself:

You are down-to-earth and people like you because you are so straightforward. You are an efficient problem solver because you will listen to both sides of an argument before making a decision that usually appeals to both parties.

The type of girlfriend/boyfriend you are looking for:

You are a true romantic. When you are in love, you will do anything and everything to keep your love true.

Your readiness to commit to a relationship:

You are ready to commit as soon as you meet the right person. And you believe you will pretty much know as soon as you might that person.

The seriousness of your love:

Your have very sensible tactics when approaching the opposite sex. In many ways people find your straightforwardness attractive, so you will find yourself with plenty of dates.

Your views on education

Education is very important in life. You want to study hard and learn as much as you can.

You have plenty of dream jobs but have little chance of doing any of them if you don't focus on something in particular. You need to choose something and go for it to be happy and achieve success.

How do you view success:

You are afraid of failure and scared to have a go at the career you would like to have in case you don't succeed. Don't give up when you haven't yet even started! Be courageous.

What are you most afraid of:

You are concerned about your image and the way others see you. This means that you try very hard to be accepted by other people. It's time for you to believe in who you are, not what you wear.

Who is your true self:

You are mature, reasonable, honest and give good advice. People ask for your comments on all sorts of different issues. Sometimes you might find yourself in a dilemma when trapped with a problem, which your heart rather than your head needs to solve.

Fancy Dinner

I've been wanting to blog about this for quite a long time now. And now I'm breaking my silence. I'm sure you've heard or watch in the television the much talked about "expensive" dinner of Pres. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and her entourage at Le Cirque in New York.

I'm sure hindi. Everything boils down to politics. Bigla ko tuloy naalala ang pagdalaw ng isang opposition senator sa University where I go to. Usap-usapan sa klase ang sasakyan niya. So nacurious ako. Guess what? Take note. Senator pa lang yan. Hindi pa siya presidente. What more kung presidente na siya. Tapos kung makapambatikos sila akala mo kung sino. Double standard.

Emotional Roller Coaster

Much has been going on. It's really hard, frustrating and, not to mention, sad to be caught up in this busy world.

My weekend wasn't really good except Friday night up to the wee hours of Saturday because that's the time na nasa anniversary party kami ng Phileos. Masaya naman 'yung party but the drinks were not good. Parang tubig lang. Wala man lang tama. Nahirapan tuloy ako to get myself in party mode. I sat there watching my orgmates and the other people dance the night away for like a couple of hours. I danced with my orgmates. It was FUN, I must say. I felt elated because we had a chance to bond and do things na hindi namin magagawa if we were not on that party. The party served as our excuse to get close (literally) to each other without anyone noticing (or so I thought). It was all dreamy when he was holding me. I hope it's not the last kahit na nagkaroon kami ng hindi pagkakaintindihan. Hay.. Sana maging ok na ang lahat.

Fast forward to Saturday night. It's 9pm at paalis pa lang ako ng LB going home. Tired and hungry because I haven't eaten dinner. Hindi ko nagustuhan how the day went by. Nasira mga plans ko because they woke me up and made me go to the games waaayyy earlier than what I have planned. Bad trip. Grr.. So yun na nga. Stressed out ako. 11pm na ako nakauwi. I had dinner tapos natulog na ako. The next day, iritable ako. Hindi ko alam if I should blame the hormones o ang mga di kanais-nais na mga pangyayari brought by my sister and my mom. Wala na talagang ginawang matino kapatid ko. Tapos tumawag pa si L expressing his annoyance while I was at church. Ang bigat nun para sakin. I can't get it out of my mind. Siguradong mahihirapan akong magconcentrate sa pag-aaral mamaya. May exam pa naman ako early in the morning. Good luck na lang sakin. I could almost hear the song "Bad Day" play on the background because of what had happened.

I looove it!

Remember the shoes I mentioned in my earlier post entitled Friday ? After much bargaining with my mom, she finally agreed to buy me the shoes. They're finally mine! Hehe.. We bought the shoes last June 1 (Monday). Buti na lang the shoes are available in my size. Here are the pics:

*modeled by my dearest cousin

We went to the mall again yesterday to buy some stuffs including the purse that I'd also be using on the wedding. I had a hard time choosing coz a lot of the purses look great so I asked mom to help me choose. Here's what she picked:

This purse is actually not included in my range of choice but my mom convinced me that this is the one that I should buy. It's not bad after all.
